"A new study published in Nature Climate Change shows that strong and rapid action to cut emissions in line with Paris targets, will help to significantly slow down the rate of global warming over the next 20 years. This is the first time that scientists have been able to show any chance of slowing temperature rise before 2050. Previous research from other scientists has always suggested that cutting emissions would mean that this slowdown in warming temperatures would not kick in until the second half of the century. This report highlights that immediate action on climate change can bring benefits within our lifetime, not just decades or centuries into the future."
